About fincalculator.in
fincalculator.in is a free set of financial calculators for India — income tax, salary, SIP, EMI, government savings schemes and business taxes — in English and Hindi. Every calculator shows its formula with your own numbers substituted in, and nothing you type is saved.
Why it exists
While filing his own income tax return, Ankit wanted a simple income tax calculator and a FIRE calculator that showed the working instead of just a final number. He could not find one he trusted, so he built it. The site grew from there, one calculator at a time.
Who builds it
Ankit Bansal is a software engineer who has been building backend and fintech systems since 2015.
- Product Engineer at Peerlist (since June 2023), where he built the Autosend email delivery platform from the ground up.
- Senior Software Engineer at GoJek (2021–2023), where he built merchant-lending integrations, KYC verification flows and real-time credit-eligibility checks for more than a million active users.
- Earlier roles at Antbrains, Clairvoyant India and Persistent Systems (for Cisco), building enterprise APIs and data-processing systems.
Bachelor of Engineering in Computer Science, University of Pune (2015).
How the numbers are checked
- Tax slabs, rebates, surcharge and cess come from one shared tax engine that follows the Finance Act for the year shown. No calculator keeps its own copy of the slabs.
- Automated tests run the formulas on every build, including independent cross-checks and identities such as total paid minus total interest equalling the loan amount, to the rupee.
- Every calculator lists its primary sources — the Income Tax Department, RBI, SEBI, AMFI and the official scheme notifications.
- Pages are re-checked when the numbers change: the Union Budget, the quarterly small-savings rate notifications and the EPFO interest rate.
What this site is not
fincalculator.in is an educational tool, not financial, tax or investment advice. Ankit is a software engineer, not a chartered accountant or a SEBI-registered investment adviser. For a decision that matters, check your numbers with a qualified professional.
